The Air Force Cross GV is a gallantry award instituted by King George V in 1918 and awarded for courage and devotion to duty whilst flying on non-operational service

and featured the older portrait of Queen Victoria until 1901 when Edward VII assumed the throne

It was later made available to equivalent ranks in the RN and Army for acts of valour in the air
